Reviews of the Week
Game day, dry week: Mobile's wings and watchers
Reviews of the week: Mobile, 2026 · week 43
The Local Desk · Mobile, AL · October 25, 2026
Fall has settled into Mobile with highs of 75–79°F and not a drop of rain in sight through the week. It's the kind of dry stretch that makes Saturday football the only thing on anyone's mind — and the reviews this week prove it. From dental cleanups before the kickoff to chiropractic tune-ups for the long tailgate hours, Mobile is getting ready.

The deep dive
Barr Skyline Vet HospitalMoved to Tuscaloosa, still drives back to Mobile so her dogs see the same vet.

On a football Saturday, the drive between Mobile and Tuscaloosa is a well-worn stretch of road. Pat makes it for the dogs. "I got moved to Tuscaloosa but still drive to Mobile to go here wouldn't trust my pups to anyone else," she writes, and in the same breath: "Great vet Dr Barr and Dr Green are the best." No drama, no long story. Just a person who decided the appointment was worth the gas.
The record doesn't argue. Barr Skyline Vet Hospital sits at 4.8★ from 285 Google reviews, and 11 of the 12 reviews we hold are five stars. One other reviewer mentions the same things Pat does — the names, the trust. There have been 4 new reviews in the last 90 days, which is a trickle rather than a flood, and that tracks with a clinic whose people tend to stay put instead of churning through.
What it says about how the place runs is simple: the draw is specific humans, not a brand. Reviewers here name Dr Barr and Dr Green over and over, which usually means the same faces are in the same rooms year after year. That's the kind of continuity that survives a move across the state. Also worth noting, from another regular: this is a clinic that has seen chickens. Make of that what you will before kickoff.
Best sentence of the week
“They have a sense of humor. They are Alabama fans”
— Daniel on Eastburn William G DMD · Google
Two facts, one sentence, and on a football Saturday only one of them is about dentistry.
The regular
“Dr Duffey has been my ophthalmologist for almost 30 years”
— David on Richard J. Duffey, M.D. · Google
Thirty years with the same eye doctor. That is more seasons than most quarterbacks get.
Shortest review, full marks
“My quality of life is much improved!”
— Linda on Cassie Burns, MD · Google
Six words, whole story told. Linda does not waste a single one of them.
